LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – Lexington’s four aquatic centers are opening on Saturday!

According to the City of Lexington Aquatic centers and neighborhood pools web page, the Castlewood, Southland, Tates Creek, and Woodland aquatic centers will all open this Saturday while the Shilito and Douglass neighborhood pools will be opening on June 4.

Pool passes are available for purchase and pay at the door options are also available.

Hannah LeGris, a council member for Lexington’s 3rd District, announced all city pools are receiving “needed infrastructure improvements” through federal funds.

LeGris noted how Southland, Woodland, Shilito, and Douglass pools have already had diving boards replaced.

FOX 56 reached out to LeGris’ office for comment on further infrastructure improvements. Her office confirmed that “due to the lead time of materials and some of the improvements needing design repairs and new features will happen after this pool season.”

Some of the aforementioned improvements include:

  • A new pool slide and filtration system at Douglass
  • New aquatic features and new filter tanks at Woodland and Southland
  • Repairs to the aquatic feature at Tates Creek
  • New pumps at Castlewood and Southland
  • Pool decking repairs at Shilito
