LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — National Drug Take-Back Day, an occasion to dispose of unneeded prescription drugs, was celebrated on Saturday in a big way.

The Lexington Police Department said through this event, they collected over 716 pounds of unwanted or expired medication.

If you were unable to make it to the event on Saturday, there’s still a way to participate. Expired or unwanted prescription medications can be disposed of at several locations across Lexington.

Events such as National Drug Take-Back Day, and designated disposal sites, have been created to combat the misuse of prescription drugs.
