LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – Lexington Public Library has released its in-person programs for the summer.

Beginning Tuesday, May 31, the library will begin hosting a series of festivities including petting zoo’s book giveaways and more.

“We are so excited about returning to an in-person format this summer,” said Lexington Public Library Executive Director Heather Dieffenbach. “Some of our activities are new, and some are old favorites. It’s a great opportunity to spend time at the library and enjoy not only the wonders of reading, but also programs and events that we hope will create lasting family memories.”

Local library branch’s kickoff parties:

  • Northside Branch – May 31, 11:00 a.m.
  • Eastside Branch – June 1, 5:00 p.m.
  • Village Branch – June 2, 2:00 p.m.
  • Beaumont Branch – June 2, 6:00 p.m.
  • Central Library – June 4, 11:00 a.m. (Phoenix Park)
  • Tates Creek Branch – June 4, 3:00 p.m.

Following the kickoff parties, the public libraries will continue to host programs including Show Time with Bright Star Touring Theatre, Forensics: The Science of Crime, a visit from a Newport Aquarium penguin, and a glow-in-the-dark party for preschoolers.

The Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives, the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA), and KY Saves 529 have also launched the Explore Oceans of Possibilities College Savings Summer Reading Sweepstakes as part of the 2022 summer reading program at participating public libraries across the commonwealth.
