LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – Lexington police say a mother is facing charges after an incident at the Hope Center on Monday.
According to an arrest citation, 20-year-old Jahaira Rivera and her 4-year-old son were at the Hope Center on Versailles Road in Lexington. Police say Rivera left her son behind the building and drove away in a vehicle belonging to the Hope Center staff.
A member of the staff said they left the vehicle running while they ran inside, and when they came back it was gone.
Police found the child alone in the wood line behind the building.
Rivera is facing charges of abandonment and theft.
