LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – Filling tax forms can be a daunting process. Back by popular demand, the Lexington Public Library is once again partnering with AARP to offer the tax assistance program.

This tax assistance program took a one-year hiatus due to COVID-19 and has returned for 2022.

AARP trained volunteers to come and help with tax forms at branches of the library. As of now, this only applies to the Eastside and Tates Creek branches.

Library staff said it fills a huge need in the community. In years past, this program has seen huge success and drawn a lot of attention. For this reason, library staff said it’s essential to schedule your appointment as soon as possible, to make sure you can take advantage of this free resource.

“Being able to partner with trusted volunteers who can help guide people through the process is really important. People can schedule a one-on-one appointment with an aarp volunteer by calling aarp directly,” said Lexington Public Library director of development, marketing, and communications Anne Gay Donworth.

Appointments can be made for either the Eastside or Tates Creek branches by calling AARP directly at (859)-428-7437, Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

At this time, these are the only two branches offering this service and appointments cannot be made through the library.
