LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – Volunteers are needed to prepare sandwiches for the guests of the Catholic Action Center.

The center’s “sandwich ministry” is asking for help to provide food for people in the evenings and to send out with the Compassionate Caravan.

Any types of sandwiches are welcomed, but peanut butter and jelly are the most popular the center asks that you cut the sandwiches in half.

Any amount is welcomed, but if you need a number, the center is asking for 75 sandwiches and you can drop them off anytime between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

“This is how we community, we as compassionate people as well as people of faith want to be sure that no one goes hungry. Sandwiches seem like a simple kind of thing, it’s not going to solve world hunger, but it definitely is going to solve someone who is hungry, either on our streets or coming to try and find food to feed their families or themselves.”

You can go to the Catholic Action Center’s website to sign up and commit to bringing the sandwiches.
The one ingredient they’re asking you to hold is the mayo because it will spoil in the high heat.
