LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – Lexington law enforcement teamed up with God’s Pantry Monday morning to hand out food baskets to people living in the East End.

Friday, Lexington Police and deputies from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office went door to door to see who’s in need. They came back today with 400 boxes.

Officers say this is more than handing out food, it’s building community relations and neighbors agree.

“Goodness and helping out, you know,” said food recipient Barbara Jordan. “They already got the bad mouth on the police anyway so this might help them out let them know they ain’t as bad as they say they are.”

Lexington police’s latest recruit class also assisted in the food box giveaway.
