LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – The city of Lexington recorded its 18th homicide of the year on Wednesday.

Police were called to the 900 block of Winchester Road for a report of shots fired around 2:35 a.m.

Arriving officers found a man outside of a nightclub who was suffering a gunshot wound. Police said the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The coroner’s office has yet to release the victim’s name.

This was the second fatal shooting of the night in Lexington, and the third fatal shooting of the year for this area of Winchester Road.

In May, Demonte Washington, 28, was shot and killed at the corner of Winchester Road and Hillcrest Drive.

And in April, two men were found shot in an SUV on Winchester Road between Loudon Avenue and Liberty Road. One of the men, Cyrus Davis, 35, later died from his injuries.
