LEXINGTON, Ky. – A man wanted for Lexington’s most recent murder is now in police custody. Officers captured David Trent on Costigan Drive late Wednesday afternoon.

Police say Trent is responsible for the murder of Adan Mejia-Perez at the Imperial Mobile Home Park. Investigators discovered the murder scene last Thursday morning, but could not find the victim’s body for several hours. They later discovered the body in the backseat of an SUV on Wickland Drive.

Police sent officers to the area of Costigan Drive after getting a tip that Trent was there. When officers arrived, they say Trent tried to get away on a motorcycle but couldn’t. They say he bumped into a police cruiser while trying to make his escape.

Trent is due in Fayette District Court on Thursday afternoon to answer to the murder charge. His arrest citation reveals police believe he used a 12-gauge shotgun to kill Mejia-Perez before hiding his body.
