LEXINGTON Ky. (FOX 56) — Finding free summer meals is now easier than ever thanks to a text line launched by “No Kid Hungry Kentucky”.

Texting the word “food” to 304-304 will bring up a message asking for an address or zip code. Texting “comida” will give the same message in Spanish. The reply will come just seconds after texting.

Once a zip code is texted, a list of nearby meal distribution sites will pop up, along with what days and times you can get those free meals. For example, Lexington’s 40511 zip will include Green Acres Park and the Northside Branch of the library.

Some of the distribution sites are set up in neighborhood parks, which makes them easily accessible to those with transportation issues.

Schedules are subject to change, so it’s recommended that you call ahead to the site closest to you before grabbing a meal that day.
