LEXINGTON, Ky.  – A 17-year-old boy wanted by Lexington Police for a weekend murder is now in custody.

Police arrested him on Tuesday afternoon on Centre Parkway. An officer spotted the suspect who then took off. After searching the area, police located the teen in the crawl space of a home. The owner told police they had no idea the teen was in the home and that they did not know him.

Authorities say the shooting victim, Sean Howard, arrived at St. Joseph East Hospital with a gunshot wound to his torso around 12:45 Saturday morning. Police say witnesses told them the suspect shot Howard while he was sitting in a car in the parking lot of Mist Lake Plaza, near the intersection of Richmond Road and South Locust Hill Drive. He later died at the hospital.

Police issued a warrant for a 17-year-old boy in connection with Howard’s murder. Investigators say the juvenile and Howard had a prior dispute before the killing.

Police are not releasing the name of the person they arrested because he is a juvenile.
