Police: Man assaults, fires weapon at girlfriend after he's caught texting another woman

LEXINGTON, Ky., (WDKY) - A man is charged after police say he assaulted his girlfriend and fired his gun at her.

According to his arrest citation, Rico Berry, 54, of Lexington, was at his girlfriend's house Monday. That's when she saw Berry had been texting another woman.

When she confronted him, Berry became upset, grabbed a handgun and pointed it at the woman and her son. His citation says he then began punching and kicking her in the face, causing minor injuries.

The confrontation then moved to the bedroom, where Berry pulled out his gun and fired two shots at his girlfriend. She was not hurt by those gunshots.

Berry is charged with assault, two counts of wanton endangerment and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
