A new report ranks Kentucky as the worst state in the nation for animal protection laws. The animal legal defense fund released the report Tuesday.

For 12 years in a row, Kentucky has ranked last. The report says state lawmakers have yet to pass a number of important protections. For example, Kentucky is the only state that prohibits veterinarians from reporting suspected animal abuse. The report also says Kentucky doesn’t have any laws penalizing sexual assault of animals.
