VERSAILLES, Ky. (WDKY) – The Indiana man who authorities say stabbed a six-year-old Versailles boy to death will spend 20 years in prison.

Ronald Exantus was sentenced to 10 years for each second-degree assault charge and one year for a fourth-degree assault which will run concurrently.

A jury found Exantus not guilty of murdering Logan Tipton by reason of insanity during a December 2015 stabbing. The defense admitted Exantus stabbed the boy to death, but it was the result of a psychotic episode.

The jury found Exantus guilty but mentally ill on the assault charges which injured Tipton’s father and sisters. They recommended a 20-year sentence.
