Semi fire shuts down Interstate 75 in Whitley County
WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (WDKY) - Interstate 75 is shut down in both directions in Whitley County after a semi truck fire and fuel spill.
Dispatchers in Whitley County say the crash happened around 4:30 a.m. Thursday near mile marker one.
Crews are working to get the northbound lanes back open, but officials do not have an estimate on when the southbound lanes will be clear.
The truck was driving south when dispatchers say it hit the guardrail.
As of 7 a.m. firefighters were still putting out hot spots. Diesel fuel has leaked onto the road.
The driver was able to get out and is not hurt. No other injuries have been reported.
The Whitley County EMA director tells WKYT the truck was hauling lunch meat.
