LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – “It was like someone took my heart and ripped it out,” Shon Davis Sr. said.

On June 9 his 28-year-old son, Shon Davis Jr. was murdered sitting in his car; something he did not see coming.

After roughly a year, Davis is still trying to understand why.

“The young man got in the back of the car seat and shot him execution style in the back of his head,” Davis said.

He said the mother of the person he believes killed his son took to Facebook to confess.

She said her son killed her then-boyfriend, the younger Davis, over jealously.

“I was angry because my son loved the wrong person, he cared for the wrong people and they killed him,” Davis Sr. said.

There is still an empty void while looking after his grandson and now having to explain to him why he will never see his dad again.

“Sitting my grandson down and talking to him and telling him that his daddy is gone is the hardest thing I’ll ever have to go through. Because he asked me why and I do not have an answer,” Davis said.

But he said it’s his strength and grace from God that has allowed him to forgive.

“I want to go to the young man and I want to ask him why and I want to grab his hand and I want to pray with him so I can felt complete,” Davis said.

But in the meantime, he still recounts old memories.

“I still have his phone number in my phone, and I can’t take it out. I still have our text messages with each other on Facebook,” Davis said.
