HARRISON COUNTY, Ky.  – Police think wet roads played a role in a deadly wreck in Harrison County that killed a teenager.

The Harrison County coroner says Brett Persinger, age 18, died in the crash. Persinger was a student at Harrison County High School.

Police received a report of a crash on New Lair Road, not far from the 3M plant on Wednesday around noon. A car and a cement truck crashed. According to police, the car came down a hill on a curvy road and hit the truck on the passenger side.

Persinger died at the scene. The passenger in his car was also hurt and taken to UK Hospital. Police have not yet released the identity of that person, but according to Cynthiana Police, both victims are under the age of 18.

One man who lives in the neighborhood but did not want to be identified said he ran out moments after the crash, but there was nothing he could do to help.

“There was nothing I could do. I couldn’t get in the car. I would’ve if it would have been possible. But it wouldn’t have been possible to get in the car.”

Investigators say the driver of the cement truck was not hurt.
