LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — If you’ve been browsing your social media feeds recently, you may have noticed chatter and graphics talking about the #BettyWhiteChallenge.

The challenge has been circulating since her passing on Dec. 31, 2021, but especially on Monday in honor of Betty White’s 100th birthday.

“On Betty White’s 100th Birthday, January 17th, everyone should pick a local rescue or animal shelter in your area and donate just $5 in Betty White’s name. Make her 100th Birthday the movement she deserves,” a social media graphic reads.

Jumping on the challenge, the Lexington Humane Society said Tito’s Handmade Vodka will be matching donations, up to $1,500, made on a Facebook post.

“Betty White was a wonderful advocate for the animals and was often quoted regarding her love for vodka in which she stated ‘Vodka is kind of a hobby.’ A woman who knew her stuff!”, the post said.

In addition to donating, those who contribute $10 or more will be entered to win a gift basket from Tito’s.
