Two injured in Lexington crash involving horse trailer

Two people were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries Sunday, after a multi-vehicle accident in Lexington.

The crash happened just after 1 p.m. on Iron Works Pike near Seeger Lane.

Firefighters say a maroon Buick was crossing Iron Works Pike when it was struck by a red Dodge. The Dodge then hit a truck hauling a horse trailer with three horses inside.

Two people in the Buick were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. One passenger had to be removed using the jaws of life.

The driver of the red Dodge, as well as the people in the truck and the three horses in the trailer were not injured.

Part of Iron Works Pike was shut down until around 2:00 p.m. Sunday as crews worked to clear the scene.

All lanes have been reopened.
