LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – Fayette County Public Schools is partnering with others in the community to make sure children are fed this summer.

Beginning Monday, Fayette County schools, along with God’s Pantry Food Bank and Employment Solutions, are hosting the summer food service program.

Free lunches are available to children 18 years old or younger, Monday through Thursday in June and Monday through Friday in July at designated schools.

“School is such a big part of our students’ and families’ lives, it just helps out and it’s another way to give back to our community,” said Micheal Jones, principal of Mary Todd Elementary.

The lunches are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each child must be present to receive a meal.

Families outside of Fayette County can use the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s “Find Meals for Kids” map to locate lunch and snack facilities close to their communities.
