LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Winchester man faces a rape charge for an alleged 2021 assault on a UK student.

University of Kentucky police said it happened at an on-campus residence hall. Chief Joe Monroe said the rape was reported on Sept. 25 of 2021.

Police investigated for weeks, until Jan. 13 when a criminal complaint was filed on Jadan Farris. The 22-year-old was taken into custody Sunday.

“We went through a lengthy process of making sure we interviewed all the witnesses who may have information to provide us, as well as interviewed the suspect,” Monroe said. “We also did forensic evidence on camera footage that could be recovered.

Police said Farris knew the victim, which allowed police to identify him quickly. Farris was arraigned on the charge Monday and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on Thursday.
