Winter weather system hits central and eastern Kentucky

A weekend winter storm hit several parts of central and eastern Kentucky.

Whitley, Laurel, Pulaski, Letcher, and Harlan Counties saw significant amounts of snow.

People in parts of Laurel County had to deal with ice.

"I first got out this morning and it wasn't slick. I took my dog out to use the restroom and it wasn't slick.. It was kind of rainy. When I got ready to go back out to go to church, my truck was froze up and my driveway was frozen," said Larry Parrott.

Another driver came through Laurel County, hoping to see better weather further on during their trip.

"We're traveling from Indianapolis to Wilmington, North Carolina," said Todd Muffley, "So we're going through the belly of the beast today."

Light snow will continue to fall in some areas Sunday night before the system pulls away by Monday morning.
