INDIANAPOLIS, In. (WDKY) – The Kentucky men’s basketball team beat Wichita State on Sunday by a final score of 65-62.
Fans say it was a tense and emotionally exhausting 40 minutes of basketball, and when the clock finally hit zero, Big Blue Nation breathed a sigh of relief.
“It was too close,” one Wildcats fan said. “It was kind of making me very nervous but it turned out all good.”
“It’s very exciting,” another fan exclaimed. “I travel with the team a lot, so I’m very excited to go to Memphis. I’m excited to have them recharged and ready to go.”
One of the most excited fans after the game was the mother of one of the most popular players on the team.
“Oh it was wonderful,” Bam Adebayo’s mother, Marilyn Blount, said “I love my boys, I’m proud of all of them. Go Wildcats, go!”
Kentucky moves on to the Sweet 16 to play on Friday in Memphis, hoping the birthplace of Rock n’ Roll gives Kentucky a berth to the Elite Eight, and possibly the Final Four and beyond.
