(FOX 56)– With just six weeks to go before the kickoff to the SEC football season, conference commissioner Greg Sankey is imploring member schools to reach at least an 80 percent threshold for COVID-19 vaccinations.
Only six of the 14 SEC schools have hit that mark, and the University of Kentucky is not one of them.
Sankey says, unlike last season, fames will not be rescheduled for a team is unable to play due to COVID issues. Instead, the team will have to forfeit.
“Covid 19 vacines are widely available,” Sankey said. “They’ve proven to be highly effective and when people are fully vacinated, we all have the ability to avoid serious health risks, reduce the virus’ spread and maximize our chances of returning to a normal college football experience.”
