CARY, N.C. (FOX 56) – Eastern Kentucky outfielder Kendal Ewell is among elite company as the season winds down. Ewell is a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award, given annually to the top amateur baseball player in the country.

Ewell is the only player of the 31 semifinalists representing the Atlantic Sun Conference. On the season, Ewell is hitting .386 with 14 home runs, 50 RBIs, and 55 runs scored. His slugging percentage is at .653, while his on-base percentage is hovering over .500.

The award will be presented on June 24 on ESPN. EKU’s ASUN Tournament run continues on Wednesday morning against Jacksonville State at JetBlue Park.
