RICHMOND, Ky. (FOX 56) – The Eastern Kentucky football team wrapped up its second week of spring practice with a scripted scrimmage on Saturday afternoon at Roy Kidd Stadium.
The Colonels are gearing up for the Maroon & White Spring Game on Saturday, April 30, its first spring game in two years because of the cancellations during the pandemic.
Returning quarterback Parker McKinney brings the stability to the offense he was expected to bring, leading an offense that put up 28 points per game last season.
They scored 33 points per game during a five-game winning streak in the middle of the schedule, building a ton of hype for EKU before a tough end to the season by losing two of its last three and missing the FCS playoffs.
“I think you can see our team is picking up where we left off in the fall which is a plus because of our quarterback on offense and on defense we have a lot of guys back so really pleased with how we’re moving forward have to continue to improve our depth our competitive spirit and things like that but that comes around as you keep pushing through spring,” head coach Walt Wells said.
Kickoff for the spring game is set for 3 p.m. with an EKU Alumni Game at 2 p.m.
