Mercer County repeats as Sweet Sixteen state champs

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Mercer County was unchallenged in the KHSAA girls' Sweet Sixteen state championship game Sunday at NKU. The Titans led Mercy 52-14 at halftime and tied the state tournament record for margin of victory with its 74-34 win. Mercer County (36-3) repeats as state champions, becoming the first school to win back-to-back state titles since Lexington Catholic in 2005 and '06.

Emma Davis and Lexy Lake hit 5 three-pointers apiece, and each finished with 17 points for the Titans. Emmy Souder added 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals. Miss Basketball finalist and Louisville signee Seygan Robins had 8 points and 7 assists.

Mercy (25-10) was led by Taziah Jenks' 9 points.

Mercer County connected on 16 of 26 threes. The Titans also had 21 assists on 28 made baskets.
