Scott Co., Great Crossing moving to 41st District; Woodford Co. moving to 8th Region

The KHSAA announced Thursday that beginning in 2018, Scott County High School and the new high school in Georgetown - Great Crossings - will join the three Frankfort high schools in the 41st District, while Woodford County will exit that district and move into the 8th Region.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WDKY) - Beginning in the 2019-20 school year, Scott County High School and the new Great Crossings High School will participate in the 41st District of the 11th Region. The Kentucky High School Athletic Association announced the change on Thursday.

The Board of Control wanted to avoid six-team districts and recommended moving Scott Co. from the 42nd District, while suggesting Woodford Co. move to the 30th District in the 8th Region following the 2018-19 school year.

The new alignment would be for the sports of baseball, basketball, soccer, softball and volleyball. The move could be finalized in January.

Under the new alignment, the 41st District would include Frankfort, Franklin County, Western Hills, Scott County and Great Crossings. And Woodford County would join Anderson County, Collins, Shelby County and Spencer County in the 30th District.

The current alignment for boys' and girls' basketball in the 11th Region:


District 41 – Frankfort, Franklin County, Western Hills, Woodford County

District 42 – Bryan Station, Frederick Douglass, Henry Clay, Sayre, Scott County

District 43 – Lafayette, Lexington Catholic, Lexington Christian, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Tates Creek

District 44 – Berea, Madison Central, Madison Southern, Model

The current alignment for the 8th Region:


District 29 – North Oldham, Oldham County, South Oldham, Trimble County

District 30 – Anderson County, Collins, Shelby County, Spencer County

District 31 – Carroll County, Eminence, Gallatin County, Henry County, Owen County

District 32 – Grant County, Simon Kenton, Walton-Verona, Williamstown
