UK All-SEC linebacker Jones expects to return for Miss State game

Kentucky linebacker Jordan Jones, who's been sidelined with injury the past four weeks, returned to practice Tuesday.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops said that All-SEC linebacker Jordan Jones returned to practice Tuesday in a limited capacity and anticipates Jones will play against Mississippi State in 10 days.

"That's the plan, yes. As long as there are no setbacks, we hope to play him," Stoops said.

Jones has been sidelined with an unspecified shoulder injury the last four weeks.

"He was out there today, He's in a red. He's no contact, but he's out there running around," Stoops said. "He went through some individual and went through some reps without hitting anybody."

While Jones returned to practice, UK's bye week is allowing others to rest and recover. Stoops said three defensive starters sat out Tuesday's practice - linebacker Courtney Love, noseguard Naquez Pringle and cornerback Chris Westry. None appears to be dealing with long-term injuries.

"If all things go well, we should have them by the end of the week or the beginning of next week," Stoops said.

Kentucky kicks off the second half of its season on the road Oct. 21 at 4 p.m. against Mississippi State.
