RICHMOND, Ky. (FOX 56) – A new season begins next month for the Eastern Kentucky University men’s and women’s basketball teams, which means the annual media day gathering takes place as well.

Both teams gathered in Alumni Coliseum on Monday afternoon, with the women practicing in the early afternoon and the men following them.

The EKU men’s team has increased its win total in each of the last three seasons, will all of them coached by A.W Hamilton, a Georgetown, Ky. native. A 22-7 record took them to the 2nd round of the OVC tournament.

On the women’s side, head coach Greg Todd is taking over the program for his first year. They look to rebound from a 9-15 campaign in 2020-21.

Eastern Kentucky University athletics, as a whole, is transitioning from the OVC conference to the ASUN conference.

The men’s team gets its season started on Nov. 9 for a home game against Georgetown College, while the women start the season on Nov. 11 as they host Transylvania.
