GEORGETOWN, Ky (FOX 56) – Georgetown College welcomes Chris Oliver to serve as the newest Head Football Coach for the first time since 1997 on Wednesday, Jan. 5.
Oliver departs Lindsey Wilson College to take over the reins of legendary and longtime head coach, Bill Cronin after 12 seasons with Lindsey College.
“Georgetown is an outstanding institution and not only do we have the opportunity for football success, but you have the academic backing,” Chris Oliver said. “I spent 13 years in a great town of 5,000 people, great people, but it presented recruiting challenges that we won’t struggle to have here in Georgetown.”
Oliver, lead the Blue Raiders to five divisional titles, seven playoff appearances, and the 2020 national championship after becoming Lindsey Wilson’s first head coach in 2010.
“The fact that we had won the National Championship on our own two seasons ago and had some recent success against the Tigers, make this transition a bit easier, however, It’s still hard to follow a legend and I am thankful to have Bill and Bryan as friends helping me out during this process.”
