LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – A chilly, rainy evening did not stop high school football teams from taking the gridiron Friday night. A number of local teams were still alive in Round Two of the playoffs.

The rivalry between Scott Co. and Frederick Douglass has grown to become one of the most intense Lexington-area rivalries since Douglass was created four years ago. They gave Scott Co. a new name: “The Team Up North”

The two squads, separated by about 20 miles on I-75, have played some classic games recently. The Broncos won the regular season matchup and won again tonight, beating the Cardinals 48-7 to take the district championship.

Madison Central and Bryan Station featured one of the more intriguing matchups of the night in Class 6A. The Defenders won their regular season matchup just three weeks ago, but Central landed its revenge with a 41-18 win.

The winner of that game would face the winner of the other region game between Tates Creek and Paul Lawrence Dunbar. The Bulldogs pulled out a close 41-34 win and get ready to host Madison Central next week with a region title on the line.
