LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – With just over a month left in the high school basketball regular season, a number of teams jockeyed for position in region standings on Tuesday night’s games.

Woodford County leads Region 8 and boosted its overall record with a non-region win over East Jessamine, 90-50. That marked seven straight wins for the Yellow Jackets.

A couple Region 10 games took place just down the street from each other when Bourbon County and Paris held games in their respective gym.

Bourbon Co. held off a 2nd half rally from Nicholas Co. and grabbed the 80-70 win, while Paris fell in too big of a hole to Montgomery Co. and lost 76-57.

On the girls side, Boyle Co. also helped its Region 10 position with an upset win over Garrard Co., 42-23, bouncing back from its late loss on Friday against Lincoln Co.

In Region 11, Great Crossing continued its strong play of late with a doubleheader win over Western Hills on the boys and girls sides. The boys won on a game-winning layup by Vince Dawson to take the 63-61 win while the girls took the 65-23 convincing win.
