GEORGETOWN, Ky. (FOX 56) – The first round of the Region 11 high school baseball tournament held its games at the higher seed’s home field, with the semifinals and finals moving to a neutral site at Great Crossing High School.

Tuesday’s first semifinal game saw Madison Central, the top team in the region during the regular season, take down Henry Clay, 6-2. The Indians beat Franklin County in the first round while the Blue Devils put together a comeback win over Lexington Christian, but did not have enough for another comeback here.

The second game was scheduled to start at 8 p.m. but did not throw first pitch until 8:50 p.m., but the two squads still brought plenty of excitement. Sayre and Lafayette each scored runs in the first inning but the Spartans added another in the top of the 7th, beating the Generals 2-1 in the nightcap.

Madison Central and Sayre will face off in Wednesday’s Region 11 championship game, with a trip to the KHSAA baseball Sweet 16 tournament on the line. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at Great Crossing.
