LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – All roads lead to Lexington for high school baseball and softball teams looking to win that coveted state championship. As the Sweet 16 tournaments get closer, Monday saw the beginning of their region tournaments.

Henry Clay and Lexington Christian took the diamond in the top half of the bracket, with the Eagles taking a 4-1 lead in the 1st inning but the Blue Devils fighting back with a four run rally in the 7th inning to get the win, 6-5 the final.

They would face the winner of Franklin County and Madison Central, a region game played at Eastern Kentucky’s baseball stadium in Richmond. The Indians grabbed an early 8-0 lead and allowed a few runs on bases loaded walks but maintained control, beating the Flyers 8-4.

Henry Clay and Madison Central face off at Great Crossing High School, the host site for the remainder of the region tournament, on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The other half of the bracket saw Lafayette beat Great Crossing and Sayre take down Berea, so they face off in the other semifinal played directly after the first.
