MOREHEAD, Ky. (FOX 56) – The last time the Morehead State men’s basketball team lost a home game at Johnson Arena was back on December 18, 2020 against SIU Edwardsville. They finished 2021 with a historic home win.
The Eagles beat Eastern Illinois, 63-50 on Wednesday night to complete a perfect home record in the 2021 calendar year. This is the first time that feat has been accomplished in a decade.
After falling behind 26-23 at halftime, they needed a fierce comeback to complete their historic task and got a strong performance from Johni Broome. The second-year freshman center recorded his ninth double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds, also adding six blocks.
This is the third straight win for the Eagles, improving to 9-5 on the season and 1-0 in Ohio Valley Conference play.
The perfect record in 2021 home games consisted of 14 wins in Johnson Arena, dating back to the 2020-21 season with OVC conference wins and the wins recorded this season.
Morehead State looks to keep that success going in 2022 when they take the court on Jan. 1 at home against Tennessee State.
