LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – John Calipari is entering his 13th season as Kentucky’s head men’s basketball coach. As the team took the podium Wednesday for their 2021 Media Day, experience is a common theme among this Wildcats roster.

Two graduate players and seven juniors join the three sophomores and three high-profile incoming freshmen on this year’s team. They return two of last year’s top four leading scorers with Davion Mintz (11.5 points-per-game) and Keion Brooks Jr. (10.3 PPG).

Big Blue Madness gave fans their first look at this year’s team, with a light scrimmage and a dunk contest (won by Jacob Toppin) and 3-point shooting contest (won by CJ Fredrick).

Kentucky was picked this week as the preseason favorite to win the SEC, and enter the season ranked No. 10 in the preseason AP Top 25 rankings.

The Wildcats take the court in their Blue-White game on Friday at Rupp Arena and see their first game action next Friday, Oct. 29 against Kentucky Wesleyan College.
