HOOVER, Ala. (FOX 56) – Oraj Anu had been down with injuries for a good portion of the season but made his biggest contribution in the biggest game of the season on Wednesday.

Anu hit a go-ahead home run to put Kentucky, and Adam Fogel followed him up with a solo shot to propel the Wildcats past 5-seed Auburn 3-1.

It’s the third win for the Cats over Auburn in the past week, winning the series over the Tigers last weekend. Kentucky (30-24) will play LSU on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. ET.

Leading 1-0 in the eighth, Daniel Harper laid a 3-2 pitch over the plate that SEC Co-Player of the Year Sonny DiChiara sent out of the park to knot things up.

“Obviously that home run by Sonny was huge,” Kentucky head coach Nick Mingione said after the game.

“Just obviously proud of the way our guys responded after, because it would have been real easy just to feel like they had all the momentum, but our guys did and they continued to compete. So proud of the way they competed,” Mingione added.

After becoming the first 12-seed to win a game in the SEC Tournament, all attention is being channeled towards LSU. “It’s a really offensive team. You saw that all year long. A team that can pitch and match up really good,” Mingione said. “There’s a reason why they’ve won as many games as they have in the league. We’ll definitely have our hands full against a really quality team.”

The Tigers (37-18) are riding a four-game winning streak coming into the game.
