LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – Just a few hundred feet away from each other, the Kentucky softball and baseball teams both picked up wins on Tuesday with both offenses launching double digits on the scoreboards.

The No. 9 softball team put up 14 runs on in-state foe Northern Kentucky, beating the Norse 14-0 in a mercy rule ending through five innings at John Cropp Stadium. Tatum Spangler retired 16 of 17 batters in the circle.

They are back in action this weekend at home against Mississippi State, in their final home series of the regular season.

UK baseball followed up a weekend series loss to Vanderbilt with an explosion from the bats at the plate, scoring 12 runs in a 12-1 victory over Dayton. The Cats jumped out to a 8-0 lead after two innings and never looked back.

They are back in action this weekend at Florida, before getting ready to host No. 1 Tennessee the following weekend back at home.
