LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – Fresh off of a successful Big Blue Madness in front of thousands of fans, Kentucky men’s basketball is checking in at 10th in the AP Top-25 Preseason Poll. The Cats are the highest ranked SEC squad in the poll, four spots higher than Alabama.

After a 9-16 season and an NCAA postseason absence, the Wildcats return eight players from last season’s roster while adding a plethora of transfers that should make an immediate impact. Davion Mintz is the top returning scorer, while big man Keion Brooks will be anchoring the frontcourt.

UK was active in the transfer portal, adding three big-time transfers in Sahvir Wheeler (Georgia), C.J. Frederick (Iowa), and Kellan Grady (Davidson). Oscar Tshiebwe joined the team in January and averaged 8.5 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.

The men are back on the floor at Rupp on October 22nd when they host their annual Blue-White scrimmage game, followed by the first of two exhibitions on October 29th, against Kentucky Wesleyan.
