URBANA, Ill. (FOX 56) – The Kentucky men’s tennis team made history at the Atkins Tennis Center in Illinois, the host site for the NCAA semifinal match between the No. 8 Wildcats and No. 4 Ohio State.

The Cats picked up a 4-1 win to reach their first-ever NCAA championship, losing the doubles point but bouncing back for four straight singles wins. They advance to face No. 7 Virginia on Sunday at 4 p.m.

No. 21 Gabriel Diallo, No. 83 Millen Hurrion and Francois Musitelli grabbed singles win before No. 4 Liam Draxl grabbed the clinching win, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association Player of the Year has led the Wildcats all year on Court One and did so again in Saturday’s Final Four.

Kentucky has beat DePaul, Northwestern, No. 9 Wake Forest, No. 1 TCU and No. 4 Ohio State in this year’s tournament and now gets ready to win a title if they can beat No. 7 Virginia, who they lost to in the regular season.
