LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – After waiting seven days to get back on the court after a loss at Notre Dame, Sahvir Wheeler made a statement in a drubbing of North Carolina in Las Vegas on Saturday.

His 26-point, eight assist night earned Wheeler SEC Player of the Week honors, the league announced on Monday.

In the 98-69 win over the Tar Heels, Wheeler became the first player in school history to drop 26 points, record eight assists, and swipe four steals in a game.

His 26 points are also the season-high for the entire Wildcats team.

Kentucky’s game against Louisville on Wednesday was postponed due to COVID-19 issues inside the Louisville program. UK Athletics is working on finding a replacement game for Wednesday or Thursday at Rupp Arena.
