Weekend meteorologist Jim Caldwell began his broadcasting career at age 15, recording promos for his hometown radio station, WRLV AM/FM in Salyersville, Kentucky.
When he turned 16, Jim was hired by the station to do everything from janitorial work to dabbling in sales and writing commercials. He was also on the air live every afternoon and covered weekend weather. He later became the station's sports director and music director.
The whole time he was working at WRLV, he was also finishing high school and beginning the first part of his college career at Prestonsburg Community College (now known as Big Sandy Community & Technical College). In March 2001, Jim became the chief weathercaster at WYMT-TV in Hazard, a position he held for more than 12 years.
In March 2003, Jim became a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. He received his Broadcast Meteorology Certificate from Mississippi State University.
He moved to Lexington and became a part of the WKYT/FOX 56 weather team in June 2013.
In his spare time, Jim enjoys video games and golf and spending time with his wife, Terri, and sons Caleb and Carsyn Storm.
