2 tbsp olive oil

1 medium or 2 small yellow onions, diced

3 cloves garlic, sliced

2 jalapenos, seeded and diced

1 tsp cumin

2 cans seasoned black beans

2 tbsp lime juice

1/4 cup cilantro

1 tbsp hot sauce

Salt, to taste

Plantain or tortilla chips, for serving


In a medium pot, heat the olive oil and cook the onions, garlic, and jalapenos until soft. Add the cumin and stir for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Add the beans, reserving the liquid on the side. Add the lime juice, cilantro, and hot sauce and puree until smooth. Add additional bean liquid as needed and season with salt. Serve warm or at room temperature with chips.
