LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – The winter storm is now here. Please stay off the roads if you can. If you have to be on the road, please reduce your speed and avoid sudden stops. 

Ice, freezing rain, and sleet may cause you to lose visibility through your windshield. Roads, bridges, overpasses, driveways, sidewalks, and parking lots can all turn icy in a very short period of time.

Today, we have a winter storm with an icy mix, rain changing to snow, 2 to 5 inches of snow for much of central Kentucky by evening, snow in central Kentucky may not even start until mid to late afternoon highs in the lower to mid-30s.

Tonight, steady snows taper, but more snow showers and flurries return by Monday morning, lows in the mid-20s. Monday, look for mostly cloudy skies with leftover snow showers and flurries, 40 percent chance, highs in the lower 30s.

Tuesday, expect a blend of sun and clouds with a high of around 40 degrees.
