LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Last Wednesday the Lexington Blue Grass Airport recorded an afternoon high of 87 degrees, which at the time, was 12 degrees above normal. This marks the warmest day of 2022 so far.
But today, with more haze and humidity and a run toward the record high, Lexington should approach 90 degrees. The record high for today, May 20, is 91 degrees, set back in 1944. An actual high today of 90 degrees, for example, would be 13 degrees above normal.
Winds will be gusty today from the Southwest. Sustained winds 10 to 25 mph, but gusting 35 mph to 40 mph on hilltops.
If you are not a fan of the heat and humidity, especially this early in May, fear not, temperatures do drop for much of next week, but it comes with an increased chance of rain and storms.
