LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – The big weather story Wednesday is the wind.

We’ll have wind gusts over 30 mph with isolated gusts near 40 mph, especially the first half of the day. Expect a mostly cloudy sky this morning followed by decreasing clouds this afternoon.

Temperatures will peak in the 40s for most, but isolated spots in southeastern Kentucky could hit 50 before colder air moves in through the afternoon and evening.

Our attention then turns to a storm system that brings snow to the region on Thursday. Timing-wise, the snow moves in late morning and increases during the afternoon.

Snow totals range from 1-4 inches in the Bluegrass to 3-6 inches (locally higher) in southeastern Kentucky where the highest totals are expected.

Arctic air will be in place heading into Friday morning. Single digits are possible, with highs struggling to reach the mid-20s Friday afternoon.

Stay tuned for updates on the snow forecast.
