LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A question many Kentuckians are asking as a storm system is expected to bring snow to the state.

The first measurable snowfall of 2022 for central Kentucky is moving in on Thursday.

Snow is expected to arrive in the late-morning hours and increase during the afternoon.

  • 5 a.m. | Snow to make its way into the western part of the state
  • 7 a.m. | Western half of the state to see snow
  • 10 a.m. | Snow to arrive in Lexington and other portions of central Kentucky
  • Noon | Eastern Kentucky and the state continuing to see snow
  • 8 p.m. | Central Kentucky to see snow moving out of the area
  • Midnight | Snow to clear out of all of eastern Kentucky

Snow totals range from 2-8 inches in the Bluegrass region.

The highest totals are expected in southern and southeastern Kentucky with widespread 4-8+ inches amounts expected.
